Heard Museum Art Camp - McKinney

Live animals, oil pastels, watercolor, educational tutoring all wrap up into 1 camp! Yes, it’s possible at The Heard Museum in McKinney this summer!

Read on why this mom liked the Heard Museum Art Camp for her kids.

My 11 year old son attended the camp and absolutely loved it! He learned about the artist John James Audubon (hence the camp name) and other artists. The campers spent alot of time outside observing and drawing plant gardens and live animals (and learning about the animals). They used many “cool” art supplies, such as oil pastels, watercolor, charcoal, acrylic and clay.
Whether your child is an “artist” or not, they will have plenty to learn! The kids are introduced to drawing from direct observation, line drawing, value and shading, design, balance, color, and basic watercolor skills.

My son told me about all the “cool” animals and insects he saw each day (some he can’t even remember the names of). They stretch their imagination and learn actual facts daily! I was very impressed with the amount of artwork he completed at the end of the week too!

The time this camp is offered this summer is in July. To see the details about this camp and all the other camps offered, go to their website.
